At the beginning of the 20th century, the company consolidated its position thanks to a strategy of constant evolution and improvement in the manufacture of industrial tapes, which led it to quickly become a leader in its sector.
More than a century later and after five generations of entrepreneurs who have continued to elevate the company, its spirit remains the same: moving ahead with changes in the sector and betting on innovation and excellence. This has made the Murtra Group currently a worldwide benchmark in the textile sector.
Murtra Group is made up of four large business divisions specialized in the development, manufacture and marketing of products within the scope of the textile sector. Industrias Murtra’s original headquarters in Granollers has become the Group’s international headquarters.

1959

Creation of Fiberduk. Swedish company pioneer in spunlaced for technical applications, later to become IMS Nonwoven AB.
Fiberduk AB was installed in Ystad, Sweden and non-woven was, from its inception, the center of its activity. Since its creation, the company has undergone a great development, combining the experience of its assets with a solid knowledge of the market and technological capacity. All these ingredients have become a high added value for its customers.

1892

Industrias Murtra was founded by Ramón Murtra in 1892, who began to lay the foundations for what was to become, a few years later, one of the leading companies in the industrial tape manufacturing sector. Over more than a century, five generations of businessmen have been visionaries and have been driving and guiding, glimpsing the great advances that have led the company to position itself as a worldwide benchmark in the textile sector. Industrias Murtra Granollers is the international headquarters of the Murtra Group, which has integrated the companies Tefisa (Telas y Fabricados No Tejidos S.A.) in Spain and IMS Nonwoven AB in Sweden into its business portfolio, within its strategic plan for growth and expansion.

1984

Batlle paper group creates Telas y Fabricados No Tejidos, S.A (Tefisa) in Piera. With a first chemical process non-woven machine, the company began supplying the market with wipes and high liquid absorption products such as diapers and sanitary napkins. After years of technological evolution and new product development, Tefisa consolidated its position in the market and became one of the national leaders in industrial products, while expanding its activity in key sectors such as the automotive sector, the sector of filtration, the medical sector and the agricultural sector among many others, expanding the geographical scope of its sales.

2003

Purchase of Tefisa in its totality by the textile froup Industrias Murtra. In order to diversify investments within the textile market, Indutrias Murtra Granollers acquired the company Tefisa. From this moment, the new shareholder has followed a new expansion strategy, endowing Tefisa with strong investments to increase its productive capacity and to improve its quality.

2008

Tefisa continues its expansion by incorporating the company IMS Nonwoven AB. In 2008, all Fiberduck assets and brands were acquired by Tefisa S.A. later to be named IMS Nonwoven AB. Together with the key staff of IMS Nonwoven AB, both companies have set course towards technological diversification, innovation and flexibility, creating new value chains for their customers.

2020

Tefisa and IMS join forces to create Murtra Nonwovens.

As the various industrial markets developed, TEFISA and IMS decided to consolidate their respective positions by creating the Murtra Nonwovens brand. The two companies equipped themselves with new machines to expand the possibilities offered by their nonwovens, offering multiple finishings, technical properties and treatments that open the door to new market possibilities and allow their customers to grow in their respective businesses. Murtra Nonwoven is positioned as a brand that aims to accompany its clients in their production and technological processes, providing them with competitive advantages to face the rapid evolution of their markets.
