Real commitment to the planet and society.
MNW S.E.E.D. PROGRAM (Sustainable Engagement & Environmental Development) is the new global program through which Murtra Nonwovens (Tefisa/IMS) develops and activates sustainable processes in the nonwoven manufacturing sector.
We have set the task of finding disruptive and lasting solutions to fulfill our firm commitment to implement the SDGs within the framework of the 2030 agenda. We are aware that reversing the ecological crisis of our planet and our society requires from each one of us to be a generator of positive change.
Our organization has implemented changes and new actions of global scope, since 2022, the year of the creation of the new sustainable program MNW S.E.E.D. PROGRAM (Sustainable Engagement & Environmental Development). This program addresses global challenges based on four areas of action: Environment, Society and People, Circularity and Transparency.
The new actions that are being carried out are structural and organizational:
- Sustainable energy: with the purpose of reducing our carbon footprint, solar panels have been installed for self-consumption.
- Actions for the optimization of water resources.
- Plan to promote recycling, as well as waste management, throughout the organization.
- Design and production of sustainable materials portfolio: we promote the development of biodegradable, compostable, recyclable, plastic-free and sustainably sourced materials.
- Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of those self-manufactured products to determine the environmental footprint. In this way, we will be able to implement intelligent solutions that will reduce our impact.
- Training all internal staff in good environmental practices and creation of the Manual that includes them.
- Diffusion and awareness of all workers with the actions that the company is carrying out in terms of sustainability. For this, an internal newsletter has been created.
- Analysis of the sustainability priorities of our stakeholders through the preparation of the materiality matrix whose objective is to identify and analyse the matters that are considered most relevant both for our stakeholders and for our business model. The results of this matrix will allow us to establish an action plan that gives priority to joint value creation in the areas of governance, ethics, the environment and social action.
- Expand our concept of equality policy and transform it into a more extensive policy that contemplates equality, equity and inclusion.
- Minimize possible risks and work on improving interpersonal relationships in the work environment. For this purpose, work is being done on the development of a new code of conduct.
- The relevance of our sustainable action plan has been rewarded with the silver medal award by the Ecovadis platform in terms of sustainability.
- Obtaining the ISO 14001:2015 certification based on progress in the behaviour of the company and its commitment to the Environment.
- Incorporation into our organizational chart of the new figure of the Sustainability Manager. His main purpose will be to guide the company on the path towards a real transformation and achieve the objectives set in our MNW S.E.E.D. PROGRAM.
- With the intention of being transparent and generating the maximum involvement of our stakeholders in terms of sustainability, a new section has been created on our website that shows our progress.
Murtra Nonwovens’ (Tefisa/IMS) commitment to bring this necessary change is strong and global. We work to design and implement new solutions, while driving collective impact to transform positively the markets and the ecosystems.
Small steps, big impact!
