Reducing the Carbon Footprint: Our Commitment to Sustainable Materials and PFA-Free Nonwovens.
In a world that increasingly demands sustainability, true change does not happen with grand announcements, but in the day-to-day of the factories, in the everyday decisions, and in the effort of teams who have a genuine commitment to continuous improvement.
For Murtra Nonwovens, as a company manufacturing sustainable nonwoven fabric for multiple markets, this commitment is the foundation of everything we do.
Facts, Not Words: The Reduction of Our Carbon Footprint.
In our facilities, the path towards sustainability is measured in concrete metrics. We are proud to share a significant advance at Tefisa, our Spanish plant where we have succeeded in reducing our total carbon footprint by 4.77% between 2023 and 2024. This percentage represents less CO2 released into the atmosphere and, more importantly, the result of methodical and constant work.
Behind every figure is a tangible effort that translates into:
• Energy Use Optimization: We implement technologies and processes that minimize energy consumption in every production cycle.
• Improvement in Transport and Logistics: We design strategies to reduce emissions derived from the supply chain, a key factor in the carbon footprint.
• Exhaustive Review of Every Process: We identify any trace of negative impact to reverse it and ensure maximum efficiency and optimal performance in every process.
Results Driving the Future of Nonwoven Fabric.
This approach has allowed us to achieve specific results in the main emission categories, demonstrating that the production of sustainable materials and quality is fully compatible:
Direct Emissions ………. ↓ 3%
Electricity …………….. ↓ 6.75%
Value Chain …………. ↓ 5.32%
This milestone marks a key point in our journey toward emission reduction and continuous improvement. Our goal is to offer customers high-performance nonwoven solutions with a clearly reduced environmental impact.
Sustainable Innovation: PFA-Free Nonwoven and Recycled Fibers.
Our commitment goes beyond energy efficiency. We are dedicated to innovation in the composition of our products, integrating recycled fibers to reduce the dependence on virgin resources and promoting the development of PFA-free nonwoven fabric. Eliminating persistent chemicals like PFAs (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) from our processes is crucial to ensure that our products are safe and truly sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle.
Every ton of CO2 reduced, every decision to use sustainable materials, and every advance in eliminating harmful chemicals means that, although there is much ground left to cover, we are improving. And that is the only path that matters: moving forward, step by step, with transparency and a clear objective in the manufacturing of sustainable nonwoven fabric.
